Chromium is required for chromium binding oligopeptide, a low molecular weight chromium binding substance known as chromodulin, which has been shown to potentiate the effects of insulin on the conversion of glucose into carbon dioxide or lipid.
This effect is directly dependent on the Cr content of chromodulin. A mechanism for stimulation of insulin receptor kinase activity has been proposed. In response to increased blood glucose, a rise in plasma insulin levels causes the movement of chromium to insulin dependent cells (probably mediated by ferritin) helping to amplify insulin signalling.

Recommended Dose

Caution:
Interactions Antacids and calcium carbonate decrease the absorption of chromium. Vitamin C may improve Chromium uptake.
