Just a sprinkle of this sweet-scented ground bean offers a delicious addition to your baking, teas, coffees, spiced chai lattes, smoothies and desserts. We particularly love adding it to our Loving Earth Hot Chocolate.

What is it?
Our Vanilla Powder is harvested from organically grown vines, which bear orchid flowers from the genus Vanilla. The name vanilla is derived from the Spanish word vaina, which means little pod.
In Pre-Columbian times, the Mesoamericans from Papantla, Mexico were the first documented civilization to have domesticated vanilla from the plant. They even took to worshipping the goddess of the vanilla plant, in celebration of its enchanting flavour.
It was only in the 1500s that this highly valued and sought after spice was introduced to Europe by Hernan Cortes. Prior to that, Vanilla was largely unknown to the Old World.
Our Vanilla Powder has an undeniably rich, warm and intriguing fragrance. The flavour can be described as sweet, creamy and smooth. It’s aromatic warmth offers comfort with the same bold flavour as the vanilla pod.
Species: Our Vanilla Powder is from the planifolia species, which is regarded for its classical, well rounded vanilla flavour and aroma.
Grade: Gourmet Grade or Grade A. This grade means the beans are oily and moist and have a deep dark colour without defects.
